How it works
Two-player teams; your scores combine into a two-digit number, low digit first — a 4 and a 5 make 45. The difference between the teams' numbers is the points swung on the hole.
A birdie flips the other team's digits the expensive way (a 54 becomes 45 against them), so a single red number can turn a hole into a haymaker.

FAQ
What happens on a big number?+
A 10 makes the pairing ugly fast (4 and 10 is 104). That's why the optional per-hole cap exists — set it and the worst hole is survivable.
